In 1982, Lesly Jean was convicted of first-degree sexual
offense and first-degree rape. He was released nine years later and his conviction
was overturned when it was revealed that police and prosecutors had failed to
disclose pertinent evidence. In 2001, DNA testing exonerated Jean and he was
awarded some compensation by the state. His conviction was based, in part, on
prosecutorial error and erroneous eyewitness testimony.
