Illegal immigrants are just like the rest of us. Many are hard workers, good parents, and good neighbors. And they would make good Americans, but the broken immigration system prevents that from happening.
Over one-third of all illegal immigrants have lived and worked in the United States for over ten years or more. They belong to over 6.6 million families and over 3 million of those families include a U.S. citizen. Iillegal immigrants come to the United States to make a better life for themselves and their families.
As of 2007, about 94% of the men are employed. The majority are employed in jobs many Americans do not desire to perform, hard labor for minimal wage. It is the Federal Government that sets the national minimum wage not employers. Many small and large U.S. businesses, including agriculture, manufacturing, and food service would suffer and prices would surge causing the U.S. economy to worsen.
Illegal immigrants add billions of dollars to the U.S. economy every year and the vast majority pay sales taxes, use taxes, vehicle taxes, ect. and contrary to media hype, many pay local, state, and federal income tax..
